Wallowa Union RailRoad (W.U.R.R.)

The Eagle Cap Excursion Train is a scenic train that operates on a 63 mile long railroad that links the communities of Elgin, Wallowa, Enterprise and Joseph in Northeast Oregon. Along the way, the track passes through spectacular roadless areas as it follows the Wild & Scenic Grande Ronde River down stream, then turns up the Wallowa River and across the beautiful Wallowa Valley to the base of the towering Wallowa Mountains. The track, historically known as the Joseph Branch, is owned by the governments of Wallowa and Union Counties and operated by the Wallowa Union Railroad Authority, which also operates rail freight service on the track. The Eagle Cap Train excursions are run by a volunteer organization called the Friends of the Joseph Branch, using the professional train crew of the Wallowa Union Railroad. To learn more about or to join the non-profit organization, click on the "Friends" button above.

There is a wonderful little gift shop on board the train as well as an annex located at the train office located on Main Street in Wallowa. Concessions are available on board with pop, coffee, bottled water, Snapple, hot dogs, pretzels, candy bars, etc. Unfortunately, the gift shop and the concession stand are not set up to take credit/debit cards at this time. The cars are all air conditioned/heated and have restroom facilities on board.
